LINE raises rural families’ standard of living with N6.7bn

The Livelihoods and Nutrition Empowerment project is to spend about N6.7 billion, to uplift the living standards of the poor and rural farming families in Bauchi State.

The project, which was jointly funded at 90 and 10 per cent by Global Affairs Canada and Oxfam, respectively, was aimed at raising the living standards of 10,000 families through the agricultural value chain.

Giving an overview of the LINE project at a five-day workshop for Beneficiary Identification and Registration Training Agenda, which began in Bauchi on Tuesday, Oxfam Associate Country Director, Evelyn Mere, said that the organisation was committed to uplifting the lives of the poor people, especially women affected more by poverty.

She added that the LINE project would strengthen the socio- economic wellbeing of the rural poor in many ways, as Oxfam was working in many areas, including gender issues, economic inequalities and other salient issues affecting the weak and the vulnerable.
