Man, 20, subjects teenager to four-day house arrest

The Police in Osun State have dragged a 20-year-old man, Femi Adeleke, before a Chief Magistrate’s Court sitting in Ede for allegedly abducting a teenage girl and attempting to have carnal knowledge of her.

Adeleke was said to have confined the victim (name withheld) in his house against her wish with the intention to have carnal knowledge of her.

The girl, aged 15, was allegedly found on October 14, four days after she was declared missing in Ido Osun by her family members.

Her family members were said to have reported the incident at the Ido-Osun Divisional Police Station. The girl, who is living with her grandmother, was allegedly found days after she got missing within the community.

The charge brought against his abductor read that “Femi Adeleke, between 09/10/2022 and 12/10/2022 in Aga area, Ido-Osun Magisterial District, did conduct yourself in a manner likely to cause breach of peace by taking away one girl (name withheld) to your house with intent to have carnal knowledge of her and detained her against her will, thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 249 of the Criminal Code, Cap 34, Volume II Laws of Osun State of Nigeria, 2002.

“You, at the same time and date, did take away one girl (name withheld) to your house with intent to have carnal knowledge of her and detain her against her will and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 361 of the Criminal Code, Cap 34, Volume II Laws of Osun State of Nigeria, 2002.

Adeleke pleaded not guilty to the allegations. Police prosecutor, Inspector Asanbe Kayode, urged the court not to grant bail to the defendant considering the sensitive nature of the matter.

Chief Magistrate I. R. Ladipo remanded Adeleke at the Ilesa Correctional Centre and adjourned the case till November 7 for hearing.
