Man docked for stealing five cows in Osun

The Police in Osun State on Friday arraigned a 35-year-old man, Akinniyi Lukman before an Ilesa Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing five cows.

The cows were said to have been valued N2 million.

The prosecutor, Inspector Oladele Kolawole, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on February 22, 2022 around 09:00am at Ilo-Ijesa, in Ijebu-Jesa,.

He said the defendant entered the premises of one Olajide Cole with intent to commit felony therein.

Kolawole added that Lukman entered the premises of Cole with force and stole his five mature cows valued N2 million.

He said that the offence contravened sections 81, 383 and 390(9) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2003.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to two-count charge of intent to commit felony and stealing.

The trial Magistrate, Olalekan Ibrahim, granted the bail of the defendant in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like amount.

Ibrahim said the sureties must swear to affidavit of means and reside within the court jurisdiction. The case was adjourned till April 11 for hearing.
