Man drags wife to court over inability to cook

He’s not responsible – Wife

man, Aderemi Abiodun, has dragged his wife, Motunrayo Abiodun, to a customary court sitting in Ake, Abeokuta, Ogun State, seeking a dissolution of their 7-year-old marriage over his wife’s inability to cook and alleged infidelity.

Aderemi, who prayed the court to dissolve their marriage, said that he came home one afternoon and found out that his wife had packed her belongings out of his house.

He said his wife, who left his house five years ago, was promiscuous and was fond of receiving strange calls from different men even while sleeping on their matrimonial bed at night, which she claimed were calls from her pastor.

“My wife does not know how to cook and when she cooks, she will forget to heat the soup the next day and it will get spoilt. She usually received strange calls beside me at night, making it difficult for me to sleep and when I asked for the callers’ identity, she would say they were calls from her pastor,” he said.

The plaintiff said that since his wife left him, she had continued to deprive him access to their only child and that he had taken her to court on the matter. He said the court had ordered him to be paying N 5,000 for the child’s feeding allowance and N10,000 as his school fee.

The embattled husband said he later discovered that his wife had withdrawn the child from his former school without his consent to another school, where the fees were higher.

Motunrayo, his wife, however, said that her husband lied against her with regard to his infidelity accusation, adding that she deliberately took their child away from his former school because his father disobeyed the court’s order and stopped paying the child’s feeding allowance and school fees.

“My husband is telling lies against me. I don’t have any man friend because he was the one that deflowered me. I did not keep the child away from him; it is our child who does not want to come close to him because he feels his father will not take care of him,” she said.

While giving his judgment, President of the court, Chief Akande O.O, said that the husband was not responsible enough for the welfare and upkeep of the child.

He, therefore, ordered Motunrayo to allow her child’s father to always see him.

The court adjourned the case till April 17 and asked the couple to settle the issue amicably between themselves before the adjourned date to prevent the court from dissolving their marriage.
