Man hires friend for N10, 000 to kill pregnant wife

Sounding unbelievable, operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested a 35-year-old man, Eluyera Wasiu, who allegedly contracted his own friend, one Adeniyi Samuel, to help him kill his 29-year-old pregnant wife.

The bubble, however, burst, when the suspect and his accomplice were both arrested following a distress call made by concerned neighbours to the Divisional Police Officer of Ogijo Police Division in the Sagamu Local Government Area of the state following physical combat by the two men.

The police got information from concerned members of the public on January 2 that the two men were engaged in a fight-to-death combat at Oponuwa Area of Ogijo, which the neighbours said could lead to either grievous bodily injury or death if they were not separated.

The police spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi, on Monday, told newsmen in Abeokuta that following the distress call, the Divisional Police Officer, Chief Superintendent of Police, Muhammed Baba, detailed his men to the scene where the two suspects were arrested.

Oyeyemi said during interrogation, Adeniyi Samuel told the police that Eluyera Wasiu had contracted him to kill his pregnant wife, one Bola Taiwo.

According to him, the suspect said Wasiu promised to give him N10, 000 for the job, out of which he had already given him N5, 000, with a balance to be paid “on completion of the job.”

Oyeyemi said “Preliminary investigation revealed that Wasiu Eluyera was married to Bola Taiwo but they got separated due to irreconcilable differences. Wasiu later got married to another woman who is presently living with him.

In another development, the police command in Ogun State has begun investigation into the death of a couple, Mr. Kehinde and Mrs. Bukola Fatinoye, at Ibara GRA in Abẹokuta, on the New Year’s Day.

Oyeyemi also made the disclosure in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Monday in Abeokuta.

NAN reports that Kehinde and Bukola were burnt to death when suspected arsonists set their house ablaze on January 1.

One of their children and their housekeeper were also alleged to have been kidnapped by those behind the suspected arson.

According to Oyeyemi, the police will do all within their powers to reveal those behind the dastardly act.

NAN gathered that the incident happened shortly after the couple returned from ‘Cross over Service’ to usher in the New Year.

NAN also learnt that Kehinde and Bukola were employees of the Central Bank of Nigeria and Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, respectively.
