Man lands in court for allegedly stealing N12m export wood

The police in Lagos State have arrested a man for allegedly stealing two 20feet containers with contents worth N12.1million.

The accused person, Jackson Ndubuisi, 39, and others now at large were said to have stolen processed export wood belonging to Henyways Global International at Apapa,
Lagos.

The accused person, Ndubuisi was brought to court by the Investigating Police Officer, Inspector Ibiyomi Rasheed, attached to the Area ‘B’ Apapa Police Command.

The prosecutor, Inspector Feddy Asu, told the court that Ndubuisi and others now at large “did conspire among themselves “to commit felony to wit stealing and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 411 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”

In the second count charge, Asu said that the accused persons and others at large “did steal two 20feet container with container number MRKU7994879 and MRKU9856814, fully loaded with processed export wood valued at N12, 190, 000.00, property of Henyways Global International and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 287 (5) (6) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria,
2015.”

The accused person pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge against him.

The Magistrate, Mr. T.O. Babalola, granted the accused person bail in the sum of N1million, with two sureties in like sum, who must be gainfully employed in reputable organisations. The sureties should also have evidence of having paid tax for three years.
