- Father, son remanded in prison for ‘disrespecting Osun AG office’
A 32-year-old man, Kehinde Amodu, has been remanded in Ilesa Correctional Centre for allegedly entering the premises of the Osun State High Court and stealing property belonging to the state judiciary.
Amodu was accused by the police in the state of carting away the air conditioner and ceiling fan in some of the offices of the court.
Police prosecutor, Inspector Adeoye Kayode, informed the court that the stolen property was worth N700, 000.
“That you Kehinde Amodu on 3rd day of May, 2025 at about 3:00pm at High Court, Osogbo in the Osogbo Magisterial District did enter the premises of the Court and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under section 412 of the Criminal Code CAP 34 Vol. II Laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2002.
“On the same date, time and place in the aforementioned Magisterial District, Kehinde Amodu did steal one Air Conditioner, one ceiling fan valued seven hundred thousand naira (N700,000:00K) only properties of Osun State High Court, Osogbo and thereby committed an offence contrary to section 383 and punishable under section 390(9) of criminal Code CAP 34 Vol. II Laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2002,” the two counts preferred against the accused person read.
While Amodu pleaded guilty to the first count, he entered into a not guilty plea for second allegation.
Presiding Chief Magistrate Olusegun Ayilara ordered that the defendant be remanded in the Correctional facility and adjourned the matter till May 22 for hearing.
In another development, a 52-year-old father, Saka Moshood and his son, Saka Farouq, have been remanded by another Magistrate’s Court sitting in Osogbo for allegedly disrespecting the office of the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Osun State, Jimi Bada.
A charge sheet obtained by THE POINT revealed that the offence happened on May 5, 2025 at the Osun State Ministry of Justice, Government Secretariat, Abere, Osogbo.
It read, “That you Saka Moshood and Saka Farouq on the 5th of May, 2025 at about 4:30pm at Osun State Ministry of Justice Osogbo in the Osogbo Magisterial district did conspire among yourselves to commit an offence and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 517 of Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol. II Law of Osun State of Nigeria 2003.
“That you Saka Moshood and Saka Farouq on the same date, time and place in the aforementioned Magisterial District, did conduct yourselves in a likely manner with intent to disrespect the office of Anthony General of the State and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 249 (d) Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol.II Law of Osun State of Nigeria 2003.
They pleaded not guilty to the allegations. Their defence counsel, Najite Okobe, urged the court to grant them bail.
Police prosecutor, Adepoju Kayode did not object to the bail.
However, presiding Magistrate A. Adeyeba, ordered that the accused persons be remanded at Dada Estate Police Station.
