Mbagwu backs NRFF’s appointment of Goode as GM

The President of Nigeria Rugby Football Federation  Kelechi Mbagwu, has expressed support for the recent appointment of Mr. James Goode as General Manager by the Board.

Mbagwu who doubles as the proprietor of Cowrie Rugby Football Club of Lagos told The Point that he was pleased with the appointment of Goode as General Manager of NRFF and that he’s coming with his wealth of experience which will facilitate the development of Nigerian rugby.

Goode who hails from Cambridge, United Kingdom will be responsible for the development of the schools, Men’s and Women’s rugby; increasing participation numbers and will have input into the general high-performance strategy of NRFF.

Goode grew up as a dual Athletics and Rugby Athlete on scholarship at the Perse School for Boys, Cambridge. He joined Saracens Rugby Academy as Fly Half and was offered academy contract aged 16; he played for the Men’s reserve team in 2003 season. Moved to Bath to do a degree in Economics and then joined the Bath Rugby Academy.

He continued to play in Bath Men’s reserve squad and the University of Bath first XV. He got selected for British students’ squad; he was runner up in British Universities Rugby championship with Bath University and subsequently joined the Foreign Office as an Economist.

During many years working abroad, Goode joined rugby clubs in Brazil, Gabon and Pakistan coaching and playing. He then moved into the Business side of Rugby and managed little brother Alex Goode.
