Members of same family can’t benefit from FG’s cash transfer – Minister

The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Umar-Farouq, has said that members of the same family cannot benefit from the Federal Government’s Conditional Cash Transfer scheme, currently being implemented in many states of the Federation.
The Minister, who spoke during the daily briefing on COVID-19 updates, in Abuja, on Tuesday, noted that the critical stakeholders in the community were involved in the scheme.
She said this just as she disclosed that a total of 279 trucks of grains had been dispatched to states currently on lockdown.
According to her, government is focusing on digitalising the CCT scheme and is getting mobile phone numbers and BVN of beneficiaries in order to improve on transparency.
Explaining that two members of the same family could not get the N20, 000 cash transfer, the minister said, “This is near impossible because the process involved is a very tedious one. All critical stakeholders in the community are involved.
“It is almost impossible for members of the same household to get this intervention.”
