Mikel wants Terry in China, lauds Chelsea EPL victory

Super Eagles skipper, John Mikel Obi, is excited about Chelsea’s victory at the English Premier League, as he urged the club not to disappoint England in next season’s UEFA Champions League outing.

The Nigerian is also looking forward to John Terry’s proposed move to China to join other super stars who have been making good impresion of themselves in the CSL.

The former Lyn of Oslo midfielder is just recuperating from the successful surgery that almost put a stop to his career in China.

The former Pepsi Academy product may have already been ruled out of the Super Eagles proposed Nations Cup qualifier against South Africa but coach Gernot Rohr is optimistic that he may be ready before Nigeria’s subsequent matches in the Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Turkey-based player, Ogenyi Onazi was a stand-in skipper for Nigeria when Gernot Rohr’s men played against Senegal in the absence of Tiajin Teda’s Mikel but was later replaced by John Ogu after his collision with Mame Diouf recently.

With the 2019 AFCON qualification set to start in June and as the journey for a place in Russia continues in August, the 24-year-old assured Nigerians of the team’s focus and determination to qualify for both tournaments.

Nigeria is tied in Group E with South Africa, Libya and the Seychelles in the 2019 AFCON mini-league group and will aim to make up for their absence in this year’s edition staged in Gabon.
