Mourinho ‘killed’ my career – Obi

Former Super Eagles captain, John Mikel Obi, has taken a swipe on Jose Mourinho saying he ‘killed’ his football career while naming the best manager he had at Chelsea as Carlo Ancelotti. Obi played for the Blues from 2006 to 2017 and won many trophies with the London side including the 2012 UEFA Champions league title.

The former Nigerian midfielder had several coaches at the Stamford Bridge. However, he never had a good relationship with Jose Mourinho who he revealed during an interview that has “killed” him. Mikel Obi however lauded current Real Madrid coach Ancelotti for his calmness hailing him as the best manager he had at Chelsea.

“We enjoyed training with Carlo Ancelotti. He was the best in man management I ever heard at Chelsea”, Obi told reporters. “When he came in, we played a little five-aside game, we did a little show run. The way he speaks to the players, he is so calm. “He doesn’t raise his voice towards the players or shout at you. He passes his message across in a meaningful way. Other managers will shout at you if you are not doing well, like Mourinho, he is a totally different animal.”
