My wife chased my mum out of my house at midnight, hubby tells court

  •    He’s a liar, he abandoned me, our two children- Wife

transport worker, Moruf Tijani, has urged a Customary Court sitting in Ake, Abeokuta, Ogun State, to dissolve his marriage to his wife, Memunat Tijani, for allegedly chasing his mother out of his home in the middle of the night.

Tijani, who was brought to the court by his wife for abandoning her and their children for over three years, prayed the court to dissolve his seven-year-old marriage to Menunat for ejecting his mother from his house in the middle of the night.

The father of two said that Memunat chased away his mother away when he was not at home, following a minor disagreement that occurred between them in the wee hours.

He further told the court that he had no choice than to leave his matrimonial home for his wife when he heard that she sent his mother out of his apartment in the middle of the night.

Tijani further accused his wife of being troublesome, giving him no rest of mind and fond of fighting with his neighbours, a habit which made his landlord to give them a quit notice from their former residence at Oke-Aregba.

He said, “My wife, Memunat is too troublesome. She had a quarrel with my mother and chased her out in the middle of the night when I was not at home. This made me angry and I decided to leave the home for
her.

“She is in the habit of fomenting trouble, giving me no rest of mind and fighting everyone, including my neighbours that the landlord of our former house at Oke-Aregba had to give us quit notice because of her trouble.”

Responding, Memunat accused her husband of abandoning her and their two children in the past three years because of the disagreement that occurred between
them.

The house wife, who denied ever sending her mother-in-law out of the home in the middle of the night, said that they only had a minor disagreement, which made her husband to abandon her for three
years.

Memunat, therefore, told the court  to dissolve her marriage to Moruf for leaving the home for over three years without looking back to see her and the children.

She accused her husband of not having a feeling of remorse regarding his decision by not coming to beg her and her parents so as to settle the quarrel between them.

She said, “My husband left me and my children for over three years now and did not bother to know how we are feeding ourselves.  He did not even care to come to me and my parents to beg them for abandoning me. I don’t think I can cope with the situation again and I want the court to dissolve our
marriage.”

Delivering her judgement, the President of the court, Mrs. O.O Sam-Obaleye, therefore, dissolved their marriage and ordered the husband to pay N7000 monthly for the upkeep of their two children, who should be in the custody of their mother.
