A Lagos husband, Chief Kola Omololu, has dragged his wife before a Grade ‘A’ Customary Court, in Ojo, Lagos. Omololu, a former resident of 7, Olubukola Street, Ilogbo-Elegba, Lagos, told the court that he packed out of his house because his wife, Christiana Fadeke, had turned him to a slave and tied his legs with spiritual chains.
He said, before he became a victim of his wife’s torture, he had been married for 20 years. He stated, “We are members of the same church. When I discovered that she had accommodation problem, I played the role of a good Samaritan because, as a member of the same church, I counted it as an obligation to help her out of her problem, since I had built my own house. So, I gave her an apartment to be living in.
“But after some months, the devil pushed me and I approached her for marriage, and without wasting any time, she agreed and this was how we started without the knowledge of my first wife. Two months after, she became pregnant and when she broke the good news to me, I was happy. Then I had to introduce her to my first wife, who was happy to receive her.”
He, however, noted that in 2002, Christiana suddenly changed her behaviour and everybody became her enemy. The embattled husband said, “My wife has grown wings and now I am seriously regretting marrying her. Any time I remember how I leisurely walked into her trap, I always cry in regret. She has tied my hands and legs with spiritual chains.
“It got to a stage whereby I could not assert any authority in the house again. If she offended me and I made any move to react, honestly speaking, you would see me stammering and staggering. I am always afraid to talk to her. She has already captured me and turned me to a slave.”
The defendant, Christiana, was not in court to defend herself despite all summons served on her. However, the marriage was dissolved after series of adjournments.
