My wife now lives with her secret lover, hubby tells court

A commercial bus driver, Akeem Wahab, has dragged his estranged wife, Bilikisu Wahab, before an Ake Customary Court sitting in Abeokuta, Ogun State, for eloping with her secret lover.

Wahab is also praying the court for a dissolution of their marriage, claiming that his wife started living with her secret lover a month after she left their matrimonial home.

Akeem, who alleged that his wife was fond of having extra marital affairs with different men, told the court that shortly after Bilikisu packed her belongings out of their matrimonial home, she moved into the room rented for her at Oke Lantoro, Abeokuta, by one of her secret lovers.

Wahab said that he got wind of the development through one of his friends, who is also a tenant in the same house where his estranged wife, a mother of one, had just moved into.

He claimed that his friend saw his wife and strange man in the room that had just be rented in the house, where he’s also one of the tenants.

The bus driver, who prayed the court to grant him the custody the only child the union produced, assured the court that though his commercial bus driving job may not allow him to have time for the boy, he would put him under the care of his elder sister.

He said “My wife is promiscuous and I want to divorce her. We merely had a quarrel and she packed out of the house. I was surprised to see that after a month that we had that fight, she had been living  in the house of one of my friends, where her man-friend rented a room for her.

“I don’t want to have anything to do with her again. I just want the court to give me my child, Basit, so that I can be taking care of him. Even though my work as a bus driver may not allow me, I will try my best to give him to my sister. I am very sure she will take care of him very well.”

In her defense, Bilikisu accused her husband of lying against her before the court that she had a secret lover, who rented an apartment for her in his friend’s house.

She said her husband was very tricky and would not take care of their only child in the hands of his elder sister whom said would only be using the boy to hawk about the streets and she wanted him to go to school and have a bright future.

She said, “All my husband is saying is lies. I don’t have any concubine, let alone to pack into another man’s house. My husband is very tricky; he would not take care of our child.  If you allow him to hand him over to his elder sister, she will only be using my son to hawk and I want him to go to school and be great
in life.”

In his ruling, the President of the court, Chief Akande. O.O, said that the court could not grant Wahab the custody of the child until his elder sister appeared before the court.

He, therefore, adjourned the matter to July
9, 2018.
