Natforce to recruit 5,100 youths in Abia

The National Taskforce will recruit 5,100 youths in Abia State when the Bill establishing the agency currently before the National Assembly is passed into Law.
The Abia State Director of Natforce, Mr. Silas Ihemeremadu, disclosed this in a chat with our correspondent in his office at the command headquarters in Aba.
He said 300 of the youths would be drawn from each of the 17 local government areas of the state, based on merit, to ensure the engagement of quality recruits into the Natforce.
Ihemeremadu also said the mandate of the Natforce, among others, include prevention of smuggling, importation of arms and ammunitions, light weapons, chemical weapons and pipeline vandalism.
The director, who raised the alarm over what he termed as worrisome sudden rise in crime and criminal activities in the state, assured of the readiness of the Natforce to rise to the situation.
He alleged that some staff of the security agencies in the state had compromised in their duty, thereby exposing the lives of the people and their property to avoidable danger.
Ihemeremadu buttressed his claim by narrating how one of the agencies recently abetted and prevented the Natforce from arresting suspected pipeline vandals and suspects of other crimes.
According to him, with effect from January 1, the Natforce had resolved to leave no stone unturned in its bid to flush out criminals from the state, not minding who is involved.
