The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency says its men have seized 3,300kilograms of drugs on separate occasions at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos; a hotel at the Federal Capital Territory; and in other parts of the country.

A statement by the spokesman of NDLEA, Femi Babafemi, indicated that no fewer than four persons; three ladies and a man; were arrested when the drug joint, JAT Suites, located at 30 Lobito Crescent, Wuse 2, was raided and some quantity of Rohynol and paraphernalia for smoking cocaine were recovered on Wednesday.

The statement read that findings showed that the hotel, patronised by call girls, was being operated without requisite approvals in a high profile neighborhood.

It stressed that the young girls and their customers smoked and sold drugs at the bar of the hotel.

It quoted the Chairman/Chief Executive of NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (retd.), as saying that steps would be taken to ensure that the property was forfeited to the Federal Government in order to serve as deterrence to others who allowed their premises to be used for illicit activities.

The statement also indicated that one Ms. Ozigbo Joy Nneka had been arrested at NAHCO Export Shed of the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos while trying to export packs of codeine tablets weighing 15.15kg to the United Kingdom last Wednesday.

It further stated that a day earlier, narcotic officers at the airport recovered some bottles of codeine weighing 5.65kg from one Nwajindo Ndubuisi Emmanuel during inward clearance of Ethiopian Airline passengers at the E-arrival hall.

“Also at the airport, a total of 150.30kg of khat was seized on Monday, 20th September, after six weeks of placing the consignment, which arrived SAHCO shed on August 2, via Kenyan Airways cargo flight, on surveillance,” the statement read.
