Nigeria doesn’t need opposition party to thrive – APC chieftain

Achieftain of the All Progressives Candidate in Osun state, Engr. Aderele Oriolowo, has said that opposition parties in Nigeria have been hampering the growth and delivery of desired democratic dividends in the country.

Specifically, Oriolowo argued that the country doesn’t need opposition parties because they have played no role in the advancement of the nation’s democracy and progress.

The APC’s candidate for the Osun West Senatorial District in the February 16 National Assembly election said recent events in Nigeria have proven that opposition wasn’t ideal for the nation’s democracy.

In an interview with our correspondent in Osogbo, Oriolowo maintained that the opposition parties’ agenda in recent times is to always oppose the good policies of the ruling government.

He noted that Nigerians are witnesses to what is happening in the hallowed chambers of the legislature where those in the opposition political parties have been trying to frustrate the efforts of President Muhammadu Buhari through mischievous means.

According to him, what is needed is a vibrant check and balance system on the various arms of government in the country, which would enable the government to concentrate on developmental projects.

To this end, Oriolowo called on Nigerians to ensure that they vote all candidates contesting various elective positions in the country under the platform of APC in order for APC to be the only party in the country.

Describing APC as the only party that could give the desired dividends of democracy to Nigerians, the party chieftain noted that voting opposition parties would only amount to waste of
votes.

According to him, “I want you (Nigerian electorate) all to know that voting for other parties will not only amount to a waste of vote but to retrogression.

“An opposition is an opposition even if you propose a scholarship for his child he would turn it down because of his position as an opposition. We have our destinies in our hands and we have to say no to any opposition.

“APC is ruling fine in the state and at the center to consolidate and further the dividends of democracy. So, I am imploring the people to vote for all including APC Candidates at all levels including President Muhammadu Buhari. This will help us tremendously to run a smooth government and the execution of all activities and projects at all levels.”

The retired civil servant noted that the country as well as his state would benefit tremendously from his participation in politics as he promised to initiate another dimension that would be beneficial to the people and the Nigerian political system.

He lampooned legislators that give consumables as part of their constituency projects promising that if elected, he would focus on investment that would create wealth, and provide employment as well create revenue to his constituents, especially the youths.
