Nigeria Pillar of Sports, FCT SWAN visit grieving Babangida

Nigeria Pillar of Sports, Chief Agu-Ejidike, along with newly elected FCT Chairman of Sports Writers’ Association of Nigeria, Kelechi Onwudiwe has paid a condolence visit to former international footballer Tijani Babangida at his residence in Abuja.

Babangida, his wife, and their maid recently survived a car crash that tragically claimed the lives of his one-year-old son, Fadil, and his brother, Ibrahim Babangida, a 1993 U-17 World Cup winner.

Agu-Ejidike expressed deep sympathies and prayed for the family’s strength during this difficult time.

“We are deeply saddened by your loss, Tijani,” Agu-Ejidike conveyed. “May God give you and your family the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.”

Onwudiwe also conveyed his condolences, expressing solidarity and wishing Babangida a swift recovery during these trying times.

Earlier, Agu-Ejidike, urged the newly elected executives of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) FCT Chapter to be diligent and proactive in their duties.

During a meeting also held in Abuja, Agu-Ejidike expressed his full support for the team led by Onwudiwe, emphasizing the importance of steadfastness and proactivity for the growth and integrity of sports journalism.

“I am here to support you continuously as you navigate this important journey. Kelechi Onwudiwe and his team have shown great promise, and I believe they will lead SWAN FCT to greater heights,” Agu-Ejidike stated.

Reacting, Onwudiwe, acknowledged Agu-Ejidike’s support and assured that Abuja-based sports writers would continue to back the Nigeria Pillar of Sports through their journalistic endeavours.
