The World Institute for Peace has announced the details of its annual international peace conference, tagged “World Peace Conference and Award Nigeria 2025.”
In a statement signed and issued on Saturday by the Executive Director of WIP, Lamina Omotoyosi, the event is scheduled to take place on June 20, 2025, at the Nigerian Army Resource Center in Abuja, at 3:00pm.
At the event, General Christopher Gwabim Musa, the Chief of Defence Staff of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, would be honored with the esteemed “Bearer of Security Torch TBST” award.
Omotoyosi stated that the event will also mark the launch of a significant new publication, “Fundamentals of Peace Education and Sustainable Solutions to Insecurity in Nigeria: General CG Musa’s Perspectives.”
“Among the distinguished guests expected to grace the occasion are His Excellency, Ambassador Lieutenant General Tukur Yusufu Buratai (Rtd) CFR, former Chief of Army Staff of Nigeria and former Extraordinary Ambassador to the Benin Republic, along with Lieutenant General Lamidi O. Adeosun (Rtd) CFR, former Chief of Policy and Plans of the Nigerian Army, who will serve as Special Guests of Honour.
“The conference will feature a lineup of notable speakers, including Professor Mahfouz Adedimeji, Vice Chancellor of the African School of Economics in Abuja, and Professor Joy Chinwe Eyisi, the first female Deputy Vice Chancellor of the National Open University of Nigeria.
“In addition to the awards presented to General Musa, several prominent figures will be honored as Knights of World Peace (KWP). Among the awardees are His Royal Majesty, Oba Munirudeen Adesola Lawal, Laminisa I, Timi of Ede; His Royal Majesty, Oba Ademola Ajibola Julius, Olusin of Ijara-Isin; Pastor Hillary Chukwuma; Oluwafeyijinmi Oyinlola; and Alhaji Muhthior Aburagbaja. Other distinguished recipients include Alhaja Medinat Hamzat and Mrs. Adeyoju Adebimpe Lucia-Fagbohun.
“The event will also showcase contributions from Ambassadors of the World Institute for Peace representing various countries, including the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Italy, India, Greece, and Belgium, further emphasizing the global commitment to peace and security.
“As the date approaches, anticipation builds for what promises to be a landmark event in the pursuit of peace and security in Nigeria and beyond,” the statement read.
