NITDA DG heads APC’s digital transformation committee

Director-General of the National Information Technology Development Agency, Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi has been appointed Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Digital Transformation Committee by the governor Buni-led CECPC.

The Committee, inaugurated by the National Secretary of the party, Senator John Akpanudoedehe who represented the party chairman at the party’s Buhari House national secretariat, Abuja, was made up of nine members.

During the inauguration, Senator Akpanudoedehe said, “The desire of the Leader of our Party-President Muhammadu Buhari is to see that this party be energized from bottom-up through more inclusive participation of the masses. Mr. President is convinced that leveraging technology to transform our organization will add value to the overall objective of the formation of this party, which is to win elections.”

He noted that the world had since become a global village and ways had evolved whereby tasks were simplified and made more efficient, both in private or public concerns.

The National Secretary further noted that the APC had overtime and particularly under the watch of governor Buni demonstrated commitment, tendency and capacity to fine-tune its activities and improve the ways and means of engaging the true owners of the Party – the masses.

He added that it was also the party’s conviction that the introduction and improvement of digital intermediaries such as Software applications, websites, social network services into the structure of APC, to facilitate internal communication, engage in political decision-making, organize political action, would transform the overall experience of participation for the party members.

He said, “The Composition of the Committee should leave no one in doubt that our party is set for serious digitization and digital transformation of its operations.

“The Chairman of this Committee has vast experience in IT operations both within and outside Nigeria while the Secretary, Ambassador Ngofa is a seasoned party administrator and well experienced. All the members have great credentials which we believe will be collectively harnessed for this great task.”

Sen. Akpanudoedehe hinted that very soon, APC would become a paperless organisation; all its documents, party registers, permanent membership cards, etc were some of the areas the committee would work on.

The Committee was mandated to craft and implement a digital transformation strategy for the party, with an eight-point terms of reference.

The nine members of the Committee were Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi as Chairman, Amb. Oji Ngofa, Secretary. The rest were Barr. Zainab Marwa, Charles Nkata, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, Owolabi Olusegun Awosan, Nasiru Danu, Princess Nse Ekpo and Osayi Ejiga.
