A leader of All Progressives Congress in Warri Federal Constituency of Delta State, Ayirimi Emami, has said that “there was no political agreement to automatic ticket for People’s Democratic Party defectors into APC Delta State.
“It’s a lie to think because you joined APC, your position will not be contested,” he stated.
According to the APC leader, “There was no political agreement to that effect, hence all legislative positions in Warri Federal Constituency and Delta South Senatorial Seat, will be contested in the 2027 general elections.”
Emami made the declaration in Warri on Saturday while addressing a gathering of APC leaders and supporters during his return from his vacation abroad and continuation of the celebration of his golden jubilee birthday anniversary.
He maintained that members of the APC in Warri Federal Constituency will work with the decampees saying however that “if other local government councils say they don’t have candidates in the 2027 elections, in Warri South, Warri South-West and Warri North Local Government Areas, we have people who are ready to contest for the Delta South Senatorial seat.”
Emami while dismissing any insinuation of automatic tickets for new entrants into the Delta APC emphasized that he “would not forget the leadership of Senator Ovie Omo-Agege in the State, while welcoming new friends into the party.”
He noted that “the defection of PDP members in Delta State to the APC would not have been possible if President Bola Tinubu had not made the APC a formidable platform, via his performance.”
Emami remarked that only President Tinubu and the State Governor have the firm backing of Warri Federal Constituency, even as he urged the new members of APC not to oppress the older members of the party.
Also, speaking at the event, the APC Delta South Senatorial Chairman, Austin Oribioye, as well as other party chieftains notably Prince Yemi Emiko and Sir Amorighoye Sunny Mene, lauded Chief Emami for his consistent leadership role and forthrightness in the Delta APC.
The gathering later unanimously adopted a motion for President Bola Tinubu to be endorsed as the sole candidate of the APC in the 2027 presidential election.
Former member of Delta State House of Assembly, Daniel Mayuku moved the motion which was seconded by the Chairman, Delta State Waste Management Board, Mofe Matthew Edema, leading to a voice vote presided over by Emami.
