Finidi George, the head coach of Rivers United, has acknowledged that Kano Pillars deserved to defeat his team in their matchday 35 match in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
At the Sani Abacha Stadium, the Port Harcourt team fell to their hosts 2-0.
Rabiu Ali and Ahmed Musa, both seasoned midfielders, scored goals for Kano Pillars.
The loss hurt Rivers United’s chances of winning the championship.
With Remo Stars still topping the league standings Rivers United must now contend for second place in order to secure a spot in the CAF Champions League.
“If you look at the chances created and the overall game, I think they (Kano Pillars) deserve to win,” Finidi said after the game.
” For us, we have to go back and see how we can win our home games.
“I am very confident; we have two home games to play. With six points, I am not quite
worried.”
