Officials of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps, Kwara State Command, has arrested a 76-year-old man, Zubair Audu, for allegedly attempting to kill his son.

The state NSCDC Command made the disclosure to journalists on Thursday.

According to the Command, the septuagenarian chased his son, now at large, with a locally made gun over a disagreement that ensued between them.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Babawale Afolabi, said that the incident occurred at Mountain Avenue, Alagbado, Ilorin.

Afolabi stated that “On Wednesday, June 23, at about 2:45pm, the NSCDC Divisional Office at Pake area, (Ilorin South), received a distress call that one 76-year-old man was chasing his son with a locally made rifle.

“Further investigation revealed that there had been no love lost between the father and the son which might have snowballed into the life-threatening incident.”

Afolabi said that the situation was calmed by the timely intervention of the NSCDC Anti-Vandal Patrol team in the area.

He added that the suspect and the recovered exhibit were in the NSCDC custody while a serious man-hunt had been launched to locate the son who is still at large.
