Disturbed by spate of illegal migration in Nigeria, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and the Nigeria Immigration have collaborated to tackle the menace.

The agencies, in a statement made available by NSCDC Acting Public Relations Officer, Adeleke Kehinde, on Thursday, described synergy among security institutions as the bedrock of achieving adequate safety of lives and property.

The Commandant of NSCDC, Osun State Command, Sunday Agboola and his counterpart, the Comptroller of Nigeria Immigration in the state, Timothy Oladele Olasiyan, made this known when Olasiyan visited Agboola in his office in Osogbo.

Agboola expressed the need for strong collaboration among security agencies in order to get the best result and achieve the mandates of each agencies in the Ministry of Interior.

“NSCDC has a very good working relationship with the Nigeria Immigration Service in some of its operations across the country. Our responsibility is to ensure security of lives and property,” he said.

The Osun NSCDC boss stressed the need for all security agencies to deploy every arsenal at their disposal to bring the spate of insecurity to an end by tackling influx of criminals and illegal immigrants to the country.

On his part, the NIS Comptroller said, “security is no longer exclusive, it is inclusive. Therefore, every hand must be on deck to achieve safety in the land. Carrying the best riffle or the best weapon does not guarantee your well-being, without the cooperation of your community.”

He said his visit to Agboola was to seek further partnership in order to prevent criminal elements from entering the country.
