The National Teachers’ Institute has said that all outstanding results of the examinations written by students of the University of Ibadan would soon be released.

The acting Director-General of NTI, Mallam Bashir Mamman, gave the indication in his address at a meeting on the non release of results for UI (South-West zone), at the Loyola College, Ibadan, Oyo State, on Tuesday.

The affected students of the university had protested against the long delay of their results in the wake of a Memorandum of Understanding on computation of students’ results between the university and NTI.

The Deputy Director, Test Development, NTI, Dr. Ibrahim Bala, who represented the institute’s DG, said that the students’ results were being uploaded on the University’s portal, adding that the results would be released as soon as the process was concluded.

He said, “Memorandum of Understanding on the affiliation agreement was signed between the institute and five of the six collaborating universities. University of Ibadan is on the process. Consequently, all the outstanding results for the five zones were approved and released to the students by the universities.

‘It is worth noting that each university has unique ways of processing and issuance of results and certificates, hence, duration or time required to release results may differ. The delay in the release of the results for the PGDE South-West zone was mainly caused by closure of universities due to COVID-19 pandemic; ASUU strike; affiliation processes involving series of meetings, consultations and signing of MoU; time needed to process results; and uploading the students’ data on the University’s portal (as in the case of UI).

“Based on the progress made so far with the University of Ibadan, students’ results for the South-West will soon be released. We are at the final stage of the exercise which is the uploading of the students’ data on the University’s portal. As soon as this is concluded, all the results will be released.

“With this development, all students’ results in the zone will subsequently be released on time. As from the current academic session, no student results will be delayed since all the affiliation processes have been concluded with the University.

“The Institute is committed to providing quality teachers for the country by training teachers while on their jobs. All the Institute’s activities and programmes are made flexible and favorable to students. The delay in the release of the PGDE students’ results, particularly that of the South-West, is one of the Institute’s hard times since its inception.”

Earlier, the Director, Directorate of Affiliation, University of Ibadan, Prof. Wole Akinsola, who said that the resources for processing the examination data were ready since March 2020, attributed the delay to ASUU strike and COVID-19 and the exigencies of transition.
