The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps, Shuaibu Ibrahim, has advised employers to stop employing graduates who fail to present their authentic NYSC discharge or exemption certificates.

Ibrahim gave the admonition in Abuja on Tuesday at a legal aid workshop orgnanised by the Scheme titled, ‘Examining the Laws Regulating the Practice of ICT in Nigeria with Particular Reference to Data Protection Regulations’.

He cited the NYSC Act which stipulates that to be employed anywhere in the country, employers have the duty to demand from any graduate a certificate of national service or exemption certificate.

He further urged employers to present the NYSC certificates of their employees to the Scheme for authentication, if need be.

He explained that the workshop was put together to help harness the potentials of corps lawyers with a view to improving legal aid services to indigent members of the society and to harmonise the operations of the Corps Legal Aid Scheme nationwide.
