NYSC tasks Corps members on commitment to ideals of nation building

Youth corps members have been tasked to internalize the ideals of integrity, patriotism, humanity, selfless service and dedication that are fulcrums of the scheme with the aim of adding value to humanity.

The Oyo State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps, Mrs Grace Ogbuogebe, gave the charge during the closing ceremony of the 2021 Batch B (Stream l) orientation course at the Iseyin Camp, Oyo State, saying that such attributes would help them in the collective task of nation building.

Ogbuogebe also enjoined the Corps members to pursue excellence at all times, knowing that they would account for their activities within the course of their one year mandatory service to fatherland.

“As good ambassadors of the scheme and your family, ensure that you do not get involved in activities that could truncate your bright future,” she said.

She also urged the Corps members to engage themselves with the SAED programme and improve on their chosen skills, adding that they should acquire more skills to enable them create jobs and generate income.

The state Coordinator tasked them to leave legacies in the sands of time by embarking on CDS projects that impact lives in their various host community.

Meanwhile, Platoon Ten has come first in the showcase of the Hausa culture during a carnival display of the Nigerian tribes and cultures as part of events marking the end of the three weeks orientation at the NYSC Camp in Iseyin.

Platoon Five showcasing Edo culture and Platoon Three displaying Efik culture came second and third during the Cultural Carnival that was sponsored by Rite Foods Limited, makers of Bigi drinks, Fearless Energy drinks and Rite Sausage.

The Cultural Carnival showcased different tribes and cultures across the six geo-political zones of the country with the Corps members adorning colourful attires and costumes.
