Former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi has emerged as the presidential candidate of the Labour Party for the 2023 elections.

The primary which held on Monday in Asaba, Delta State, saw Obi clinch the party’s presidential candidate after three other aspirants stepped down from the contest to make him the sole contestant.

The presidential aspirants who stepped down were Professor Pat Utomi, Olubusola Emmanuel-Tella, and Faduri Joseph.

The new development is coming barely a week after the former vice presidential candidate announced his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and subsequent withdrawal from the main opposition’s presidential primary.
