Obiano’s wife wins Anambra North APGA Senatorial ticket

Wife of the immediate past governor of Anambra State, Ebelechukwu Obiano, has secured the Anambra North Senatorial ticket of the All Progressives Grand Alliance.

The former Anambra first lady at the primary election held at the Chuba Ikpeazu Stadium, Onitsha, Onitsha North Local Government Area in the state, defeated her husband’s former Chief of Staff, Primus Odili, to become the party’s flag bearer for the seat.

The exercise witnessed Mrs. Obiano poll 152 votes to defeat her closest rival, Odili who got 120 votes. The State’s former Commissioner for Information, Tony Nnacheta, scored 2 votes while Onwuteaka Sam Jnr also got 2 votes, out of the 276 total votes cast.

Announcing the result of the primary, the Returning Officer for the election, O. Ikenna, declared Mrs. Obiano as the winner having scored the highest number of votes cast, as he commended the contestants and delegates for a display of maturity during the conduct of the election.
