Though Folorunsho Folarin-Coker is now the Director General of Nigeria Tourism Development Corporation, it came as a rude shock when Governor Akinwunmi Ambode sacked the former Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture in October last year, especially given his commendable performance in office.
While it was rumoured that his exit was inevitable due to alleged misappropriation of funds, the grapevine has it that Ambode had never liked him from Day One. He only gave him the appointment to please Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the APC leader, it was learnt.
When Folarin-Coker was in office, despite introducing many initiatives, Ambode was always absent at the commissioner’s functions. That alone was an indication that they didn’t have good romance.
