Only grand coalition across parties’ll save Ogun-Hon. Adebutu

  • Says I’m not contemplating defection to APC
A member of the House of Representatives and Chairman of the House Committee on Rural Development, Hon. Oladipupo Adebutu, has said that only a grand coalition of elements across the ruling All Progressives Congress, the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party and other political parties could achieve a genuine revival of Ogun State.
Adebutu, representing Remo North in the House of Representatives, stated that it had, therefore, become imperative for people of like minds in the state across party divide to build such an all-embracing coalition.
He, however, said that the current moves by him and others to save Ogun from the grips of “mis-governance” should not be misconstrued as a plan to defect to the ruling APC in the state.
The lawmaker stated this while reacting to a rumour that he had defected to the APC following his presence at a youth meeting held at the Abeokuta residence of a former governor of the state, Chief Olusegun Osoba, who is also a chieftain of the ruling party.
Adebutu reiterated his desire to be in the forefront of a united rainbow coalition for project “Ogun Revival,” a movement for the return of good governance to Ogun State.
He said, “To genuinely achieve a revival of Ogun State, the mission requires a grand coalition of elements from PDP, APC and other parties. Therefore, it is imperative to build this coalition by embracing all people of like minds.”
The lawmaker, in a press release from his Media Office, said, “We are hereby constrained to yet again set the records straight concerning the deliberate misinformation currently being perpetrated by some mischief makers on the presence of Hon. Oladipupo Adebutu, alongside selected Ogun State PDP bigwigs at a meeting called by the United Progressive Forum at the residence of Akinrogun Olusegun Osoba on Thursday, 18th May, 2017.
“We wish to state that the meeting was at the instance of the United Progressive Forum and Honourable Adebutu, as a responsible and respectful person, would do no less than honour the invitation of such an eminent gathering of seasoned politicians and elder statesmen alongside some foremost elders of his own group.
“Hon. Adebutu believes that only a grand coalition of tested politicians and experienced statesmen can dislodge the venomous behemoth currently clinging onto power in Ogun State. Thus, he will not hesitate to seek synergy and collaboration with people of like minds in his aspiration to liberate Ogun people from the shackles of misgovernance by the ruling APC.
“Finally, it is our advice that those in the habit of spreading unfounded rumours or passing unsubstantiated innuendoes to unsuspecting public and party faithful to desist forthwith.
“We are quite aware that Hon. Oladipupo Adebutu has become the beautiful bride and center of attraction to his admirers and traducers alike, yet we urge all persons of good faith not to play cheap and dirty politics with his soaring profile.
“Hon. Adebutu is not, and will not abandon the collective aspiration of millions of the deprived Ogun citizens for him to lead them to the Promised Land. Rumour mongers beware!”
