Onochie asks DSS, Police to arrest Obi for allegedly instigating violence

The former chairperson of the Niger Delta Development Commission Board, Lauretta Onochie, has asked the Department of Security Services and the Nigeria Police Force to arrest the candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 presidential election, Peter Obi, for allegedly instigating violence in the country.

Onochie accused Obi of trying to provoke violence using his supporters, popularly known as Obidients over his defeat in the election.

She called for the arrest of the former Anambra State Governor on Tuesday in a post on X (formerly Twitter), while reacting to a video posted by one Abubakar Sidiq Usman.

Usman captioned the video: “This is the kind of man you wanted to make your president.”

In the video, Obi could be heard calling on Nigerian youths to challenge Nigerian leaders on bad governance in the country.

Obi could be heard on the video embedded in another video of protesters, saying, “It is not people you remove by prayers, so it is time to act, not to pray. The youths unfortunately, do you know how Marcus left office in the Philippines?

“Marcus left office because, on a Sunday, Cardinal Sien finished church service. Instead of saying the mass has ended, let us go, he told everybody, Today, follow me and block the presidential lodge.

“After three days, Marcus and his wife left. It is time for us to close the church and deal with these people.”

Reacting to the post, Onochie said that it was high time the DSS and the police arrested Obi, whom she described as a “clown” to answer a few questions.

According to her, Nigerians want to know why he is desperate to be the President, adding that heaven will not fall if Obi is arrested.

She wrote, “Attn: @OfficialDSSNG, @PoliceNG I think it’s high time you pulled in this clown. He did the right thing by seeking power through the ballot box. That’s legal! He managed to win some and lost the most. Fair enough!

“He did the right thing by seeking power through the ballot box. That’s legal! He managed to win some and lost the most. Fair enough!

“Then, his running mate and other unpatriotic angry birds, began to instigate our youth to violence. But our noble and patriotic youth completely ignored them, because sensible youth in Nigeria, are more in number than his headless mob.

“Knowing he had no leg to stand on, he allowed himself to be foolishly led to the Tribunal by #Cashactivists, to pursue issues already decided by the Supreme Court, years ago.

“Then they tried using the Labour movement to call for (WARNING?) strikes around the PEPT judgement day. It failed woefully. Kudos to our youth population!

“This man, @PeterObi continues to instigate his headless and consequently, brainless followers to a violent change of government. I have never seen a more desperate individual.

“There’s something sinister and ominous about a man who came 3rd in a race and wants to be declared the winner, AT ALL COST!

“I think it’s high time he was pulled in to answer a few questions. Nigerians want to know why Peter Obi is this desperate. Pull him in, heavens will not fall.”

Obi, who came third in the February 25 presidential election for which President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress was declared the winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission, has been challenging Tinubu’s election.

Last Wednesday, the Presidential Election Petition Court in Abuja threw away Obi’s petition against Tinubu for lack of merit.

However, Obi has vowed to appeal the judgment at the Supreme Court.
