The Police in the Federal Capital Territory have said that they had arrested Peter Nwachukwu, husband of popular Nigerian gospel singer, over a suspected homicide case.
The case was said to have been reported to the Police by Osinachi Nwachukwu, brother of the late gospel singer.
Osinachi, aged 42, died last Friday at an Abuja hospital following alleged domestic violence.
There were allegations that her husband was beating and bullying her on social media. He was said to have kicked the late singer on the chest at the Dunamis International Church leading to her being taken to the hospital.
Nwachukwu was reportedly arrested on Sunday in connection with the singer’s death.
The FCT Police Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh, who confirmed the development, said, “He is now in our custody. The younger brother of the deceased reported the matter and we have commenced investigation.”
Felix Tyokase, counsel to Dunamis church lawyer, said that the church’s General Overseer, Paul Enenche, just returned from a crusade in Cameroon and had not been briefed on the matter.
