Osinbajo, govs to grace Delta monarch’s centenary birthday

Nigeria’s Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, is expected to join other prominent Nigerians and dignitaries to grace the centenary birthday ceremony of the oldest monarch in Delta State, Ovie Richard Layegun Ogbon Ogoni-Oghoro 1, Ohworode of Olomu Kingdom in Ughelli South Local Government Area of the state.

The President-General of Urhobo Progress Union Worldwide, Mr. Moses Taiga, who disclosed this at a press briefing in Olomu, said that Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and some of his colleagues from other states would attend the weeklong event.
Taiga also said that some traditional rulers from the South-West, South-East and some emirs from the North had already indicated interest to attend the event scheduled for January 13 to 20, 2017.
The UPU, who is also the president general of Olomu Kingdom, said 50 notable Nigerians would be conferred with chieftaincy titles during the celebrations.
He said, “Vice President Osinbajo, Governor Okowa and some other governors will be at the grand reception of the event on January 20. The conferment of chieftaincy titles will last for three days between January 13, 14 and 16th.
“There will be a novelty match between Warri Wolves FC and Delta Force FC on January 18 at Otu Jeremi, headquarters of Ughelli South Council Area.”
Taiga also disclosed that there would also be a book launch on January 19 and foundation laying stone of the permanent palace of the Olomu in Otor-orere community.
The monarch, who is marking his 100 years birthday, is the chairman of the Urhobo Traditional Council.
