Osun APC goes spiritual over saboteurs within party, begins campaign for LG polls

BY TIMOTHY AGBOR, OSOGBO

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, on Tuesday, organised prayer against those who might be pulling it down and working against its political success.

Led by the party chairman, Prince Gboyega Famodun, crowd of members, had stormed the party secretariat in Osogbo to flag-off campaign for the Saturday, October 15, local government elections in the state.

Before the flag-off ceremony commenced, the party members prayed extensively against those considered as traitors and saboteurs within the party and asked God to restore total peace in the party. “As we have prayed to God, our prayers shall be answered,” Famodun said.

Speaking after flagging off the local government election campaign officially, Famodun expressed optimism that the case against the victory of Senator Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party currently before the Election Petition Tribunal would favour Governor Gboyega Oyetola and the APC.

He said the party had lost three times before it eventually won at the Supreme Court in 2010. Hence, the party chairman called on members not to lose hope, saying that the PDP only won in areas that allegedly had over-voting.

“If anyone thinks we lost the July 16 election, we did not lose the election. How did we lose when the opposition was discovered to have won in polling units that had over-voting.

“We believe in ourselves that we are usually orderly and peaceful, we don’t cause violence. The processes of election have been followed up to this present level. In all our experiences and knowledge, we get more wisdom. I believe that by God’s grace, we are still the one in power.

“Before we got our mandate in 2010, we lost the case three times. By God’s grace, this time too, the Lord will help us,” he stated while addressing party members.

Famodun urged party members to visit nooks and crannies of their councils and canvass for support and votes for the council polls.

He urged those who were aggrieved over the outcome of the local government primary elections to be calm and give peace a chance.

“I am urging those that contested as councillors and chairmen but did not emerge, you are still our brothers and sisters. I want you (party members) to beg them (aggrieved members) and encourage them, this party will not be divided.

“What we are here for today is to remind you to campaign at your various wards and local government areas for votes. Go to your various communities and canvass for votes. The last election has gone. There’s an adage that says no one knows tomorrow. Between July 16 and now, a lot of things have happened.

“This local government election that would take place this Saturday is a tonic to the party which will revive the party.

“If people tell you that APC was defeated in the last governorship election, tell them that you were not defeated and that the work of the Lord is still in progress,” he said.
