The Osun State Commissioner of Police, Olawale Olokode, has warned the command’s rank and file, especially those deployed to nooks and crannies of the state to forestall breach of the peace during Eid-el-Fitr, against infringing on rights of holidaymakers and people of the state during the celebration.

In a directive issued to all Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers as well as heads of Tactical Units and other Police formations in the State Command ahead of the celebration, Olokode asked all officers to ensure a 24/7 surveillance of their respective area of operations before, during and after the Muslim festival.

Olokode said he had mapped out stringent security tentacles to send away criminally minded people adding that policemen as well as all necessary logistics had been deployed to strategic points along the highway, worship centres and all nooks and crannies of the state to ensure peace.

He charged them to ward off any breach of peace and should not let criminals occupy the public places. The police boss further directed all heads of the formations to personally supervise the special security deployment and warned officers deployed for such duty not to infringe on the rights of citizens but to protect them against any untoward incident.
