The Caretaker Committee Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in Osun State, Akindele Adekunle, has tasked the newly inuagurated Women and Youth Wing of Atiku-Okowa Presidential Campaign Council in the state to galvanize support for the party’s victory at the February 25, 2023 polls.
Speaking at the inuaguration of the two campaign groups, held at PDP secretariat in Osogbo, Adekunle charged them to show strength, class and electoral authority as the nation moves close to the elections.
He noted that Atiku’s victory would be victory for Osun because it would bolster the plans of Governor Ademola Adeleke for the people of the state, and further urged the campaign wings to ensure the victory of all PDP candidates at the polls come next year.
“We are here to reiterate our commitment to development of youth and womenfolk through adequate involvement in the scheme of governance, right from the ongoing electioneering.
“As we all know, the role of women and youths in democracy and most importantly, in nation development cannot be over emphasized. It is therefore trite, in line with the vision and plans of our presidential candidate’s green book with the people of our dear nation, that youths and women are accorded pride of place in the process of decision making.
“I, therefore, charge the two important wings of the campaign being inaugurated today, to show strength, class and electoral authority as we move close to the February 25 general elections.
“Our women as mothers of the nation must come out in force of their feminine intelligence and uncompromising resilience. The youth must be ready to end wicked reign of APC in Nigeria just as was done in Osun State. I have no doubt you can do it!
“Needles to remind us all of the need for concerted effort by all and sundry in the state to deliver the much needed victory to Alhaji Atiku Abubakar as President of Nigeria.
“Victory for Alhaji Atiku Abubakar is another victory for us in the state. It is a victory needed by our new Governor in Osun State to bolster his plans for the good people of the state as against the wish of enemies of the state who are unrelenting in clogging the wheel of progress which they have hampered in the last few years.
“I also want to use this opportunity to implore our people in the state to rally round all the PDP candidates in the forthcoming general elections in the state. Having all PDP candidates emerge at the polls will no doubt enhance all round development encapsulated in 5-points agenda of our amiable governor.
“In the light of this, PDP candidates to the national and state assemblies are another project we must undertake successfully. They are essential components of the team the state requires for seamless and accelerated development. Returning them all in the forthcoming elections is therefore, as important as the feat we attained so far together as stakeholders in the state.
“Let me use this medium to once again congratulate our dear Governor, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke on how he has been able galvanize all positive forces to steady the state in assurance of moving it out of the woods it was confined by the now excommunicated APC.
“I want to assure the our amiable governor on behalf of leadership of our great party in Osun State that we are solidly behind him. We are also in support of all actions he has taken so far as the state helmsman.
“It is gratifying to note that the well thought-out steps taken by the governor so far have gone a long way to restore order, as well as stimulate the state into life.
“By now, those who have hitherto taken the state governor for granted would either be having a rethink or bite the dust in regret.
“We at the party level commend the governor for settling down to business of governance so quickly, despite all the clandestine calculations of the faded Apc, which have been confined to life care theater by the dogged people of the state.
“Together we go higher in Osun, together we rescue Nigeria. Merry Christmas and happy new year in advance everyone,” he concluded.
