Osun polytechnic staff stabbed while invigilating examination

A non-teaching staff of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, Abdul-Azeez Abdullahi has been attacked and stabbed severally during an examination at the institution.

Abdullahi was said to be among some invigilators deployed to Red Block Hall of the institution last Friday to oversee one of the ongoing examinations.

It was gathered that around 3:00pm when the examination was about to commence, a man walked into the hall and started harassing the polytechnic worker.

A source said the man walked into the hall after the students had been cleared for the afternoon paper, and began to constitute a nuisance and disrupting the examination.

“The disruptive and offensive behaviour of the unknown man got unbearable and eventually prompted an invigilator, Mr Abdul-Azeez Abdullahi to confront him to leave the hall, and this led to altercation between the duo and the unknown man broke one of the windows’ louvres and stabbed the invigilator, Mr Abdul-Azeez in different parts of his body, which include his back, hand and head.

“After he stabbed the invigilator, he made his way out of the hall and escaped. Thereafter, Mr Abdul-Azeez Abdullahi was given a first aid treatment at OSPOLY medical center, before he was taken to Ore Ofe hospital, in Iree, Osun State,” the source explained.

Confirming the incident, the Dean Of Students’ Affairs of the institution, Tope Abiola, said the culprit is not a student of the institution.

According to him, “The culprit is not our student. We are aware of the incident and we are collaborating with the Police to ensure that the culprit is identified and arrested.”

However, Abiola, disclosed that “the member of staff of the institution who was injured by the miscreant is recovering fast.”
