The FRSC commander said that the accident was due to speed violation and loss of control by the truck driver, explaining further that there was an ongoing road construction at the beginning of the Ibadan-Oyo Expressway which led to vehicles using a single lane.

She said that the corpses of the dead had been deposited at the Adeoyo Hospital morgue while the injured was taken to the University College Hospital, Ibadan for medical attention.
