Oyo NLC suspends warning strike

The Oyo State chapter of Nigeria Labour Congress has suspended its three-day warning strike, which commenced on Wednesday.
Briefing journalists at the Oyo State Government Secretariat, on Friday, after a meeting with the state government, the state Chairman of NLC, Comrade Waheed Oloyede, urged the workers should resume on Monday, January 29,2018.
He said, “Workers should resume on Monday while we continue to dialogue with the government on a sustained industrial peace.”
It would be recalled that NLC, Trade Union Congress and Joint Negotiating Council had written to the state government intimating it of the plan to embark on the strike.

On the crisis that bedeviled the six tertiary educational institutions in the state, the NLC chairman disclosed that negotiations would continue on Wednesday 31st January 2018.
“Negotiations and consultations are on-going and will resume on Wednesday, January 31, 2018. We have a responsibility to maintain industrial harmony in the state,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Secretary to State Government, Mr. Olalekan Alli, who led other government functionaries to the meeting, said the meeting was in line with government’s statement that its door was open for dialogue.
Alli commended the labour leaders for the understanding and maturity displayed so far.
