Panic in Osun as Senate moves to investigate Aregbesola over bailout fund

Speculations are rife that state governors who were issued bailout funds last year may be put through accountability test as the Senate moves to investigate Osun State Governor, Mr. Rauf Aregbesola and other State Governors on how they have spent the fund.
Consequently, the President of the Senate, Dr. Bukola Saraki, has given a go-ahead to the Senate Committee on State and Local Government Administration to investigate how Aregbesola has spent the N34, 988, 900 released to it by the Central Bank of Nigeria as bailout to pay its workers’ salaries.
The Point learnt that the chairman of the Senate Committee on States and Local Government Administration, Senator Abdullahi Gumel, in a letter to Aregbesola, informed the governor that the senate committee would visit the state on December 7 for the investigation.
It was also gathered that the move has started generating panic in government quarters, especially with officials who were suspected to have mismanaged parts of the fund without the governor’s knowledge.
