PDP crisis: Court affirms Sheriff’s removal as chairman

A Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt on Monday upheld the removal of Senator Ali Modu Sheriff as the national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party.
The court, presided over by Justice Mahmoud Liman, also ruled that the PDP National Convention held in Port Harcourt last May, was legal.
An Abuja high court had on June 29 removed Sheriff as the PDP national chairman.
Justice Valentine Ashi, the presiding judge, had nullified the 2014 amended constitution of the PDP through which Sheriff was appointed national chairman.
Sheriff and other members of the PDP had been at loggerheads over the leadership of the party after he was initially sacked at is national convention in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
