Three aspirants for various positions in the National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party have been disqualified by the screening sub-committee from contesting.

They are Wale Oladipo from Osun who was eying the position of the party’s Deputy National Chairman, South. Also disqualified was Okey Muo-Aroh from Anambra, who had shown interest in the position of the National Secretary. The third was Eddy Olafeso from Ondo State, who was angling to become the National Publicity Secretary.

The chairman of the National Convention Organising Committee, Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State, announced this during the official media launch of the 2021 National Convention logo and promotional materials, at Wadata Plaza, the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja, on Thursday.

The governor said the reason behind their disqualification was because they took the party to court in a bid to stop the National Convention billed for October 30 -31 in Abuja.

He explained that the disqualified aspirants ought to have exhausted all available internal mechanisms before heading to the court, thus breaching the party’s constitution.

He added that 27 other aspirants successfully scaled the screening and were, therefore, free to contest at the convention.
