PDP to inaugurate Presidential Campaign Council Wednesday

Ahead of the formal declaration of campaign season by the Independent National Electoral Commission, the leading opposition Peoples Democratic Party is set to inaugurate its Presidential Campaign Council on Wednesday.

The inauguration will hold according to a statement made known on Tuesday by the National Organizing Secretary, Umar Mohammed Bature.

The venue of the inauguration according to the statement, is the International Conference Center, Central Area, Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.

Those invited for the event include the party’s former presidents and vice presidents, governors and former governors, serving and former members of the BoT, serving and former members of the national assembly, all members of NEC, other stakeholders of the party, the International Communities, CSOs and the media.

In spite of the internal crisis rocking the party, the leadership of the former ruling party is determined to forge ahead with the plans to ensure a successful outing during the campaign period leading to the election on February 25, 2023.

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, and a group of former and serving governors sympathetic to his cause have been demanding the resignation of the national chairman, Iyorcia Ayu, to ensure an equitable balance of the offices in the party between the North and the South.
