Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force attached to the Obajana Division, Kogi, in collaboration with the Nigerian Army and Fulani vigilantes, have rescued three kidnapped victims during a coordinated raid on Ankomi Forest of the state.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, Kogi State Command, William Aya, the victims were rescued unhurt following a gun duel between the joint security team and the kidnappers.
The criminals, overwhelmed by the superior firepower of the operatives, abandoned their captives and fled into the bush with gunshot injuries.
Investigations revealed that two of the victims—Musa Abdullahi from Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State, and Abdulazeez Adamu from Okene, Kogi State—were abducted on May 15, 2025 while travelling in a J5 vehicle along Osara Road.
They were en route from Ekpoma in Edo State to Jos, Plateau State.
The third victim, Yusuf Ibrahim from Zaria Local Government Area of Kaduna State, was also abducted on the same day and at the same location while travelling in a trailer.
Commending the operation, the Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Command, Miller Dantawaye, praised the gallantry of the security personnel and reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to working in synergy with other security agencies to rid the state of criminal elements.
The Command further urged residents of neighbouring communities to be vigilant and report anyone found seeking medical attention for suspicious injuries to the nearest security formation.
