Police arraign man, 33, over N1.5m fraud

Men of the Area ‘B’ Police Command, Apapa, Lagos have arraigned a 33- year- old man at an Apapa Magistrate Court for allegedly swindling another man of the sum of N1.5m.
The accused person, Daniel Abhulimhen Ermosele, was brought to court by Inspector Ikuolayo Kayode.
According to the police, Ermosele collected the said amount of money with the pretence to clear three vehicles for one Adebowale Ojerinde.
The prosecutor, Inspector Feddy Asu, while reading the first count charge, said Ermosele obtained the sum of N1,500,000 (One million and five hundred Naira only) from Ojerinde with the pretence to clear three vehicles for him at Apapa Port but failed to do so thereby committing an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 314 (3) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The second count read that Ermosele “did steal the sum of N1,500, 000 (One million and five hundred Naira) property of Adebowale Ojerinde thereby committing an offence under Section 280 (b) and punishable under Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.”The accused person, however, pleaded not guilty to the counts.
The presiding Magistrate, Mr M.O. Olubi, granted bail to the accused person in the sum of N200, 000 with two sureties in like
sum.
The sureties, he said, must indicate their means of livelihood, should present evidence of three-year tax payment and state their relationship with the defendant giving verifiable addresses.
The case was adjourned to April 8.
