The Kano State Police Command has arrested one Ahmad Abdulahi, aged 15, for allegedly killing his playmate, identified as Mustapha Aminu.
Abdulahi reportedly stabbed Aminu, aged 13, with a knife resulting into his death.
A witness revealed that the teenagers were engaged in a fierce argument over an undisclosed issue when the incident occurred.
A trader, who spoke with The Point on the condition of anonymity, said he witnessed the brawl between the youngsters adding that the suspect stabbed Aminu on the head during the fight.
The witness, who is a trader, explained that the duo had been separated during the fight but alleged that Abdulahi angrily ran inside the house and brought out a knife which he used to stab his playmate.
The sugarcane seller said, “I was there when the incident happened. The two young boys had a disagreement and those around separated them and cautioned them to maintain peace, but Abdulahi later went inside and came out with a knife and he used it to stab Aminu on the head.”
The spokesman, Kano State Police Command, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Abdulahi Haruna Kiyawa, confirmed the arrest of the teenager, saying, “We received a distress call from Yakasai Quarters and we quickly dispatched our men to the scene where one Ahmed Abdullahi was alleged to have stabbed one Mustapha Aminu on the head.
“The victim was rushed to the Muritala Muhammad Specialist Hospital, Kano, where doctors confirmed him dead.
“During preliminary investigation, we recovered the knife that was used in committing the crime. The matter has been transferred to the state Criminal Investigative Department for discreet investigations.”
Kiyawa disclosed that on conclusion of police investigations, the suspect would be arraigned in court.
