The police in Osun State have arrested one Bilikat Sheu, 18, for allegedly abducting a 12-year-old bread hawker, Tolu Adedeji in Ilesa.

The state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Femi Oyeleye, disclosed this during a press briefing in Osogbo on Friday.

Oyeleye said that the suspect had pretended that she wanted to buy bread from the victim at Egbedi Street in Ilesa before abducting her.

The police commissioner said that the victim’s sister, who was also hawking, had raised the alarm before passersby chased the suspect.

Sheu was said to have escaped with the victim on August 8 2016, at about 1:00pm before her sister and others besieged A Division police station, where the matter was reported.

According to the CP, a team of policemen had immediately swung into action before the suspect was arrested at Isokun area of Ilesa.

The victim was found with her.

Oyeleye, however, said, “Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect is a fraudster and not a kidnapper.”

Also, the police said a female lunatic, Abiodun Aoyebi, alleged to have stolen a 2-year- old baby, Lateefat Raheem, in Iwo, Osun State, has been arrested.

He said the incident, which happened on August 8, 2016 at about 08:30am, almost took the life of the female lunatic as residents attempted to lynch her.

Oyeleye, however, warned residents of the state against resorting to jungle justice, saying that members of the public should report cases to the nearest police station.
