Suspected kidnappers operating along Abuja-Kaduna-Kano expressway have been arrested, the police have said.
The arrest came after many attempts on the kidnappers proved abortive.
The police authorities said the arrest was made possible following the deployment of advanced technology and IRT special teams.
The suspects, who were said to be in military uniform, had on them rifles, ammunition and charms.
The kidnappers were said to be responsible for the killing of one Mr. Sheriff Yazid last September.
They were also quoted to have admitted to the killing and kidnapping of many other people.
“After weeks of unrelenting follow-up and deploying advanced technology, IRT special teams deployed to Jigawa, Katsina, Niger and Kaduna states arrested the most deadly kidnapping group operating along Abuja-Kaduna-Kano expressway.
“This gang is responsible for the killing of Barrister Sheriff Yazid on 17/9/17 and the Kidnapping of his Wife Jamila Yazid along Abuja-Kaduna expressway. They also collected ransom after committing the heinous act.
“Fifteen members of the deadly and blood-thirsty kidnapping gang have been arrested, and several rifles, ammunition, military uniforms, charms, operational vehicles, etc., were recovered.
“They confessed to the killing of Barrister Sheriff Yazid and the kidnapping and killing of many innocent Nigerians during their operations,” the police said.
