Police arrest man for impersonating night guard, attempting to steal motorcycle

The Osun State Police Command has arrested a 38-year-old man, Morufu Mukaila, for allegedly impersonating a night guard and attempting to steal a motorcycle.

Mukaila was slammed with four-count-charge at a Magistrate’s Court sitting in Osogbo, the state capital.

Police prosecutor, Inspector Bose Shoyemi, informed the court that the defendant was caught while attempting to steal a boxer motorcycle with Registration Number MEK 447 VX, belonging to one Badmus Quadri.

Shoyemi said that the accused person committed the offence on October 5, 2022, at about 10:30pm at Mallam Tope area, Osogbo.

The charge brought against him read that “Morufu Mukaila, at the same time and date, did impersonate yourself as a night guard guarding zone 8 and 9, Mallam Tope area, Osogbo to one Adeleke Ismail and Badmus Quadri which you know full well that you are not.

“You (defendant) did beat one Badmus Quadri with your fist blow and conduct yourself in a manner likely to cause breach of peace by smoking Indian hemp in public.”

Shoyemi said that the accused person contravened sections 509, 484, 252, 249(D) of the Criminal Code, Cap 34, Volume 11, Laws of Osun State, 2002.

The accused person pleaded not guilty to the four-count-charge.

The defence counsel, T. B. Ayodele, prayed the court to grant his client bail in most liberal terms.

Magistrate A.O. Odeleye granted him bail in the sum of N100, 000 with two sureties in like sum.

The case was adjourned till November 8 for hearing.
